Isramart : ACCC aware of carbon credit concerns

Isramart news:
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has said that it is aware of concerns about claims made in the emerging carbon trading market – that is, claims that ‘carbon cowboys’ are selling unverified carbon certificates and false offsets.

The consumer watchdog body added that it would be concerned if – at a time of heightened concern about climate change – consumers were exploited by unscrupulous operators preying on consumers’ goodwill and apprehensions.

“As with any emerging industry, the ACCC is interested to ensure that those doing business are aware of their rights and responsibilities under the Australian Trade Practices Act and that they do not breach the Act, either deliberately or inadvertently,” said the ACCC in a statement.
