Isramart : Carbon trading push for Indigenous communities

Isramart news:
A prominent central Australian Aboriginal man says the law needs to be changed so more Aboriginal people can get involved in carbon trading.

Tracker Tilmouth advises the Construction, Forestry, Mining, and Energy Union on climate change from an Aboriginal perspective.

Mr Tilmouth says only Indigenous communities which have Aboriginal freehold rights over land can get involved in carbon trading, and that excludes about half of all Aboriginal Territorians.

"We need to resolve that issue very quickly because we want everybody to get involved in climate change - because I think it's extremely important to the remote communities," he said.
