Isramart llc news:

Organisations will be able to measure both the financial and environmental impact of spending with Carbon Savings Account Manager (Carbon SAM), a new process for measuring air travel carbon emissions. It will be available to all new and existing American Express Commercial and Government Procurement Card customers.

The reporting system, which is already in use with some commercial card customers, is designed to be used by a host of stakeholders, from travel and procurement managers through to finance and CSR officers. It uses Civil Aviation Authority data to measure the emissions on airlines, class of travel, route and time of travel. It then suggests a range of travel alternatives which would produce lower emissions than that selected.

Covering all airline routes visible from the customer’s card programme, Carbon SAM provides retrospective reports, assessing any business air travel completed with a reporting scope from one month up to one year.

Katrina Cliffe, vice president and general manager of commercial card at American Express UK, said: “Carbon SAM is a real step change for public sector and commercial organisations looking to improve their sustainability. We’ve spent 18 months developing the most robust system so that Carbon SAM users can be confident the reporting on their business travel emissions is truly comprehensive.

“In addition to retrospective information, we can provide clients with emissions data on alternative routes, mode and time of travel to aid their decision-making in the future.”
