isramart llc: PSA Peugeot Citroën Claims Lowest Corporate Average CO2 Emissions in Europe

PSA Peugeot Citroën, the French carmaker, just published its second corporate sustainability report, which covered its performance during 2008.

The company has established ten sustainability objectives in the following categories: CO2 emissions; eco-design; environmental management; social responsibility; supplier responsibility; socially responsible investing; stakeholder dialogue; road safety; urban mobility.

According to the company, PSA Peugeot Citroën sold more than one million vehicles emitting less than 140 grams of CO2 per km worldwide for the third consecutive year. The firm also claims it has achieved Europe’s lowest corporate average CO2 emissions, at 140 grams per km according to a ranking prepared by France’s Agency for the Environment and Energy Management (ADEME).

Do you GM, Ford and Chrysler (or whatever is left of them) should take notice? Or is this all greenwashing?
