Gubernatorial candidate Bill White made a familiar stop while on the campaign trail.

The former Houston mayor spoke to students at Castle Hills Elementary in town Tuesday.

While visiting the school that he attended when he was growing up, White stressed the importance of education.

He also pledged to bring higher-paying jobs to the Lone Star state.

Elsewhere Tuesday, “Keeping Texas Green” was Gov. Rick Perry’s message during a clean carbon policy summit.

The governor highlighted efforts to meet the state’s electricity needs without jeopardizing the environment.

Perry shared his vision of a future fueled by wind and solar energy.

The state’s energy industry fuels the nation, supplying 20 percent of U.S. oil production.
