Isra-Mart srl news:

Public spending cuts will not affect the government's promise of being the greenest administration ever through cheap energy support, energy secretary Chris Huhne has said.

Speaking to Reuters a day ahead of the Comprehensive Spending Review, the minister commented: "We're not going to be put off by the small matter of the public spending review."

He did not comment on media speculation that a £60 million development fund to upgrade UK ports would be spared in the cuts.

The previous Labour administration had promised the money would redevelop harbour-side areas to support the next generation of offshore wind farms, which would supply cheap energy to homes and business energy users around the country.

A coalition of green energy groups, MPs, businesses and union officials wrote to the Treasury last week to warn against cutting the fund, according to the Press and Journal.

"It is wrong to have one government allocate money and then have the next one withdraw it," said signatory John Paterson, chief executive of Montrose Port Authority.
