Isra-Mart srl: ‘Rich nations should trim down their carbon emission’

Isra-Mart S.R.L. news:
An official of the Climate Change Commission (CCC) wants a bigger carbon emission cut from highly industrialized countries to attain the 1,500 gigatons limit within 50 years and “temper” the destructive effects of global warming.

CCC vice chairman Heherson Alvarez said rich nations should at least trim down their carbon output by 20 percent since they are the ones who release toxic gases in the atmosphere, aggravating the effects of global warming.

“Aside from the cut, they also should pool their resources and help poor nations in implementing their own carbon cutting emission measures,” Alvarez said.

In a scientific study, from 2000 to 2050, countries should only emit about 100 billion metric tons of carbon in the air to prevent the “irreversible” intense warming of the planet.

At present, Alvarez said for this year, nations have already used up one-third or 500 gigatons of the total allocated permissible carbon emission.

He pointed out that aside from massive flooding, climate change and global warming will also cause more destructive storms.
