Gensol Consultants Pvt. Ltd. (GCPL), a 360° green solutions provider launched the long awaited report – ‘Carbon Market Outlook 2010’. The report offers an analytic view of the market forces shaping carbon demand and supply, and their dynamics in influencing the carbon prices.

‘Carbon Market Outlook 2010′ serves as an essential guide to the international carbon market – its underlying structure and dynamics and shares the forecasts of demand, supply and the price of carbon in the present scenario.
“Carbon Market Outlook 2010” shares an analysis of three possible post 2012 scenarios. Besides, it shares with you the supply projections of CDM and JI offsets by 2012 and the demand projections for AAUs under the Kyoto Mechanism.

Key findings:
The total adjusted 2008-2012 (Ist commitment period) shortfall of deficit developed countries under the EU ETS is predicted to be around 646 million tCO2e and no shortfall under Kyoto Protocol as
•Government buyers have sufficient supply of Assigned Allowance Unit (AAUs) to meet their targets
•Supply of CER/ERU from Kyoto mechanisms is estimated to be around 743 million tCO2e
•EUA & CER prices are likely to trend up and touch new highs of upto Euro 301 by 2012
•Post 2012 decision infecting pre-2013 prices
•Demand of CER/ERU does exist post 2012

The bankebility of EUA’s from the Ist commitment period (2008 – 2012) into the IInd commitment period (2012 – 2020) in ensuring that the CER’s are being bought to utilize their 10% international offset’s limit, thus creating a demand stimulus to take the prices northwards.

Speaking on the occasion, Anmol Singh Jaggi – Director, Gensol Consultants Pvt. Ltd. said, “The failure at Copenhagen to agree on a successor treaty to Kyoto Protocol and the extension of the decision for a year until COP 16 in Mexico has extended the uncertainties on the future of the carbon market. At this juncture we felt that it was imperative that we analyze the situation and provide some genuine answers to questions like what is likely to happen in post-2012, how would the CER prices be affected, etc, which is why we have decided to launch “Carbon Market Outlook 2010” report. The report consists of need to know parameters of carbon credits and the advantages that entrepreneurs will derive from the carbon market.”
