Isra-Mart srl news:

Housing Minister Frank Terenzini and Member for Cessnock, Kerry Hickey have officially handed over some of the “Greenest” social housing units ever built under the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan.

“These six units in Aberdare Street, Kurri have been certified under the National Carbon Offset Standard as “Carbon Neutral” by International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance member – Climate Friendly.

Mr. Terenzini said these new fully adaptable homes are being handed over to the AHO and will provide quality housing for people in need.

“Each unit is designed to be environmentally sustainable and provides tenants with water harvesting features such as rainwater tanks for gardens and toilets.

“In addition, these units come with a 5 star Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) energy rating, which is substantially higher than the average home, helping to reduce energy costs in the long term, Mr Terenzini said.

Mr. Hickey said these latest homes to be delivered under the Nation Building Stimulus Plan really do break the mould for public housing.

“These are as good if not better than many private developments with the added bonus of providing employment for local builders.

Managing Director of Living Green Designer Homes, Craig Riddle, was pleased with the environmental achievement.

“Properties like Emerald Mews represent the future of social housing in Australia,” Mr. Riddle said.

“The collaboration between Housing NSW and Living Green demonstrates how government and industry can work together to create high quality social housing underpinned by sustainable technologies and innovation.”

The Australian Government is investing $1.9 billion dollars as part of its Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan to deliver more than 6300 social housing homes in NSW.
