Isra-Mart srl news:

The Government today attempted to position London as the world centre for low carbon finance with the launch of a new climate change investment forum.
The Capital Markets Climate Initiative (CMCI) brings together City investors with international financiers and policy makers to help drive global green economic growth. In particular, the forum will look at ways to unlock private investment to help meet the $100 billion (£65 billion) of new green investment pledged by major economies in Copenhagen in December to fight climate change in developing countries.

Launching the CMCI at the London Stock Exchange, Climate Change minister Greg Barker said the City of London – already a leading centre for carbon trading – was well positioned to become a "global hub" for green investment and he urged it to grab the opportunity to lead the world. "The vital role of capital markets in tackling climate change has been overlooked for far too long," he said. "This is a huge opportunity for the UK financial services industry to grab a share of a completely new international market that will be worth billions in the years to come."

Also at the launch was Mayor of London Boris Johnson, who said the CMCI presented "a great opportunity" to cement London’s position as leading global city. He cited the £100 million London Green Fund, as another sign of the capital’s ambition to be global cleantech leader.

"As the powerhouse of the UK's economy, it is vital that London remains at the forefront of low carbon advancement," he said.

The London Stock Exchange is already home to over 100 cleantech firms and its chief executive officer Xavier Rolet said today the CMCI forum would enable it to do more. "By working together, building on the UK’s leadership in green technology and harnessing the global expertise gathered here today, we can help build a vibrant business environment for the low carbon age," he said.
