MORE than £50bn could be invested in renewable energy projects in Wales over the next 15 years, Carwyn Jones said yesterday.
The First Minister told a meeting organised by the Assembly Government to address renewable energy that he was committed to working with the energy sector to ensure low-carbon energy dominated the nation’s future.
He said: “We want to do this as quickly as is economically feasible and to make sure that we build a strong and sustainable supply chain and technology base along the way.
“The next 15 years could see some £50bn plus of investment in energy projects in Wales.
“I am determined that we are poised to make the best of this massive opportunity and today’s summit is about ensuring that the Welsh Assembly Government and the energy sector are working closely together to ensure the very best outcome for Wales.”
Mr Jones was speaking to an “energy summit” organised by the Assembly Government and addressed by Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones and Environment Minister Jane Davidson.
