Have a small business and think the Federal Government’s carbon pollution reduction scheme won’t affect you? Think again! When the scheme is introduced (not if) it will impact on all small businesses regardless of size.
The Kawana Waters Chamber of Commerce is holding a workshop explaining the expected impact the scheme will have and how to prepare for these impacts.
Keynote speakers will be Troy Harrison from the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland. He has spent the last 3 years helping Queensland businesses to become more efficient and save money, and has an intimate knowledge of the impending CPRS and a specific understanding as to how the scheme will affect SMEs.
Council’s EcoBiz officer Emma Menzies will also be at the workshop showing how business can cut costs through reduced energy and water use and through more productive use of raw materials.
Tasha Hungerford (CPA) a partner in Keating & Associates Accountants & Business Advisors. At the start of the year Tasha enrolled to do a carbon accounting course through Swinbourne University at Melbourne; this is the only government accredited course Australia Wide. This course has formed the basis to be able to produce reports for organizations showing their business’ affect on the environment & what strategies could be utilized to reduce the impact. The reports can be prepared just for businesses own information through to reports that are audited to be provided to the general public. Tasha is passionate about the environment & is excited to be able to use her business skills in a way that can make a real difference to how businesses operate & how this effects greenhouse emissions on the Sunshine Coast.
