In the near future, Jimei New Town, Xiamen’s first low-carbon pilot spot, will be constructed into an ecological town which enables local residents to enjoy high quality, convenient and low-carbon life, reports Xiamen Daily.

As the first low-carbon pilot spot in Xiamen, Jimei New Town’s construction is based on the precondition of preserving natural resources, according to a senior planning official with the Urban Planning Bureau of Xiamen.

To boost low-carbon public transportation in the town, future construction of footpaths and cycle paths is highlighted on the blueprint of Jimei New Town.

Meanwhile, in the programming of infrastructure construction, green and low-carbon designs such as developing clean energy and building rail transit will be seen in this new town too.

In addition, boosting the construction of energy saving buildings and energy centres and garbage recycling are also included in Jimei New Town’s low-carbon plan.
