Isra-Mart srl news:
The government has finalised flagship plans for its so-called Green Deal efficiency scheme, which will allow households and businesses to fund energy efficiency improvements through energy bill savings.
In a monthly progress report from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) released late last week, the design for the Green Deal finance mechanism was listed as one of three completed items. Also marked as complete was work to produce national action plans to reduce fossil fuel subsidies at the G20 summit and the publication of the first EU report on the progress of fast-start climate funding.
A DECC spokesman told BusinessGreen that the proposed design of the Green Deal would now be unveiled alongside the flagship Energy Bill, which is expected to be introduced to Parliament next week.
"We can't confirm the date yet due to Parliamentary scheduling, but it's not a million miles away," he said.
The progress reports show how each government department is performing against targets set out under its Structural Reform Plan (SRP). The SRPs were launched by David Cameron in June to ensure departments were held accountable for the implementation of the reforms set out in the Coalition Agreement.
The latest updates also revealed the Department for Transport has missed a target, failing to produce a high-level vision for a sustainable railway in time for the November deadline.
However, the Department said the strategy paper should be published alongside its response to the ongoing McNulty report into the railway system and as such would be "forthcoming" in the near future.
Meanwhile Defra has ticked off two of the targets on its to do list, promoting more anaerobic digestion and reviewing the government's sustainability commitments.
