Isra-Mart srl : Galliford Try wins £26m zero carbon homes heating job

Galliford Try’s renewables business has won the contract to build and operate the energy centre and district heating scheme at the first major net zero carbon housing development in the UK at Graylingwell Park in West Sussex.

The firm will build the system under an £8m build contract, which includes the mechanical and electrical fit-out and associated cabling and heating mains.

Then in a new departure for the business, Galliford will take on the ESCo (Energy Service Company) contract to operate, manage and maintain the energy system under a 25-year concession expected to be worth £18m.

Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Galliford Try said: ”We have a growing business in renewable energy provision and securing this contract for the long term supply to Graylingwell Park demonstrates our capability in this growth market.”

Graylingwell Park is a mixed use development being built by the Linden Downland Graylingwell LLP – a joint venture between Galliford Try and affordable housing provider Affinity Sutton for the Homes and Communities Agency.

The innovative scheme located on the former Graylingwell hospital site in Chichester will comprise of 750 new eco homes and a range of community amenities when completed.
