Business Unity South Africa on Friday said that the issue of carbon tax will feature highly in its discussion with government when formulating the climate change strategy.

It held a meeting about climate change with the Department of Water Affairs in Sandton on Friday.

The Minister of Environmental Affairs and the business community agreed to work together to formulate strategies in preparation for December’s Global Climate Change Conference in Durban in December.

BUSA spokesperson Ray Parsons said they would like to be able to influence the decision makers.

“What are we going to do about the carbon tax? What are we going to do about using less energy? These are some of the issue we need to see whether we can get a more co-ordinated approach,” he said.
