Isra-Mart srl news:

Reports now show that the UK’s largest carbon neutral development has just recently won Sustainable Larger Social Housing Project of the Year 2010 at the Sustainable Housing Awards. This is a big deal in a time and age where everyone is doing all they can to keep their carbon footprint low.

This awards show, which was hosted by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing, saw Graylingwell Park in Chichester given this award. Residents of this former hospital site will be given allotment space to grow their own food, and cycle route and car clubs will also be established.

All of the homes in this area will meet Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. All of the homes will also meet Code 6 for Energy and EcoHomes Excellence for refurbished buildings. However, the whole development is going to meet the net zero carbon standards. This is the part of the development that everyone is excited about.

The properties around this area will be built with photovoltaic roof panels, insulation and energy efficient applications. The commercial director of joint partner Affinity Sutton, Mark Perry, said that Graylingwell Park sets the benchmark for sustainable living. It is a testament to their desire to provide a limitless environment for a diverse and vibrant community.

Hopefully with all of the good news that this area has been getting, maybe similar projects will also start taking root. In order for people to make a difference, people are going to have to start watching their carbon footprint. By living in an area that had a carbon neutral development, people can rest assured that they are doing their part.
