Isra-Mart srl news:

Brits flying to holiday villas from Birmingham Airport may have been helping to reduce harmful greenhouse gas emission, it has emerged.

The airport has announce that a new technique known as Continuous Descent Approach (CDA) has helped to cut CO2 output by 13,000 tonnes in the last 12 months.

Rather than the traditional stepped approach, CDA allows planes to descend smoothly on minimum power, using less fuel.

The technique, which is the result of a partnership with air traffic control provider NATS, has also reduced noise levels, with the average arrival now between one and five decibels lower.

Ben Hanley, the airport's environment manager, said: "We're always seeking new opportunities to improve the noise climate for local residents and in 2006 we introduced the Operation Pathfinder scheme to create better communication channels and joined up thinking with our airlines and NATS."

The news comes after Southampton Airport outlined its green credentials with the introduction of solar panels.
