Isra-mart srl news:

Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown says agriculture should not be hit with a carbon tax under the new climate change policy.

The Federal Government will release its climate change policy next week. Senator Brown wants a carbon tax introduced.

He met with Prime Minister Julia Gillard yesterday to press his case.

Senator Brown says the tax should start at $23 a tonne of carbon, as recommended by Professor Ross Garnaut, but agriculture should be exempt, at least for the foreseeable future.

“Undoubtedly, way down the line, that is an option. But the advantage for agriculture would be that that would fit into a carbon trading scheme where other countries did the same,” he says.
