An angry crowd greeted the Member for Lyne at yesterday's community meeting at Laurieton on the New South Wales mid-north coast.

Rob Oakeshott is hosting six forums across his electorate.

Most people at the meeting wanted to talk about the carbon tax.

Mr Oakeshott says most people do not realise that the carbon tax is the same as the emissions trading scheme formerly proposed by both sides of politics.

"In 2007, before I was even around, you even voted for Mark Vaile who had an emissions trading scheme as part of his policy because both sides at that stage, Kevin Rudd and John Howard, were arguing that an emissions trading scheme was, guess what, the lowest cost, lowest risk response," he said.
