RAC-owner Aviva has the best record for carbon emissions among 300 of Europe's biggest companies, according to a study.
The insurance heavyweight, headquartered in London, made its way to the top of the Europe 300 Carbon Ranking for having the lowest greenhouse gas emissions.
Compiled by the non-profit research group Environmental Investment Organisation (EIO), the league table also features investment firm Man Group among the best 10 performers.
Trailing in the bottom 10 with highest emission levels were Carnival, the British owner of P&O Cruises, and London-based oil and gas drilling firm Ensco.
Telecom firm Swisscom, Finland's Nokia and broadcaster BSkyB took the top three places on the list of non-financial firms with the lowest emissions.
The EIO, which ranks companies on their public reporting of emissions, said it brought together all relevant data for the public to see in one simple format and showed the "leaders and laggards" among corporate groups.
Sam Gill, EIO operational director, said: "Despite most companies producing corporate social responsibility reports there remains a remarkable lack of transparency and clarity in Greenhouse Gas emissions reporting."
