Isra-Mart news:
THE Federal Government's planned carbon tax will damage the profitability of Australian businesses and jeopardise jobs, Opposition Leader Tony Abbott said in Adelaide.
Touring the Vili's factory at Mile End on Friday, Mr Abbott said the iconic South Australian business would be hit with an extra $100,000 a year to its power bills under Prime Minister Julia Gillard's carbon tax.
He said Vili's used $500,000 of electricity and gas every year and that cost would rise "massively."
"The whole point of this carbon tax is that it will drive up the cost of everything and it will jeopardise jobs everywhere," he said.
Mr Abbott called on Premier Mike Rann and the union movement to oppose the PM's carbon tax.
Earlier, the Liberal Leader toured the Vili's factory with proprietor Vili Milisits, where he spoke to workers and helped make pasties and `Vili Dogs.'
It was Mr Abbott's second visit to the state this month after he visited Whyalla to discuss the carbon tax with steel mining workers.
He says the towns of Whyalla and Pt Pirie will be "wiped off the map" under the planned tax.
