Isra-Mart news:
This Friday BusinessGreen will welcome Jeremy Leggett, one of the UK's leading clean tech entrepreneurs and most vocal environmental campaigners, to the team as he takes on the mantle of our first guest editor.
Leggett is well-known within the green business sector as the founder and executive chairman of the UK's leading solar energy firm, Solar Century, as well as the founder of the SolarAid charity and a leading campaigner on the peak oil issue.
A geologist by training, Leggett has experience of both the high- and low-carbon economy, working on projects for oil giants such as BP and Shell during the 80s before becoming an environmental campaigner at Greenpeace for most of the 1990s.
He founded Solar Century in 1997 and has seen it grow into the UK's largest solar solutions firm, campaigning all the while for increased investment in clean energy and greater awareness of the threat to the global economy presented by finite oil supplies.
He is also the founding director of the world's first renewable energy private equity fund, Bank Sarasin's New Energies Invest AG, and recently played a key role in the formation of the high-profile UK Industry Taskforce on Peak Oil and Energy Security.
He is the winner of numerous environmental and academic awards, the author of two books, The Carbon War (1999) and Half Gone (2005), and the perfect candidate for BusinessGreen's first guest editor.
Friday will feature a series of articles commissioned and written by Jeremy, as well as an exclusive interview on his views on the state of the UK's green business sector.
