Carbon Conscious is saving municipalities time and money in their efforts to meet their 2020 greenhouse gas reduction targets
PMC is pleased to announce the launch of Carbon Conscious, a one-stop online resource for sharing new ideas and information on climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction strategies. Designed and introduced by PMC, a leading environmental and planning services firm, www.carbonconscious.us is a planning and public engagement site for municipal governments, climate change authorities, LEED accredited specialists, and grant writers who are looking for up-to-date information on climate action plans and policies, mindful resource planning, community engagement and sustainability practices.

In California, municipalities are working to meet GHG reduction and Climate Action Plan (CAP) requirements under AB 32 and SB 375. Other states are adopting similar GHG emissions reduction targets and programs.

'Carbon Conscious is saving municipalities time and money in their efforts to meet their 2020 GHG reduction targets,' said Michael McCormick, AICP and CAP Project Manager at PMC. 'By sharing information between our members, promoting tried-and-true sustainability approaches, and identifying new sources of grant funding, Carbon Conscious helps municipal governments develop cost-effective climate change reduction strategies that work in the real world.' These include understanding the latest approaches in green building techniques, waste reduction, energy and water conservation, transportation management, municipal infrastructure, environmental justice and community outreach.

Carbon Conscious provides municipal governments with the latest information on grant funding for sustainability projects,' said Tammy Seale, Sustainability and Climate Change Services Program Manager for PMC. 'It points out sources for low-interest loans and other funding sources for GHG reduction, and provides a grant writing, counsel and management service that will expedite the funding process.'

Carbon Conscious also features a carbon counter that allows families and individuals to document their own carbon footprint and, over time, track their individual progress towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
