Australia's Parliament resumes on Tuesday for a crucial three-day session that could be make-or-break for the beleaguered Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
Two of her signature issues - plans for a carbon price and for the offshore processing of asylum seekers - are facing their final scrutiny by the Parliament.
A series of bills that would impose an economy-wide carbon price, moving to an emissions trading scheme are due to go to a vote of the lower house on Wednesday.
And the government's controversial amendments to the Migration Act, allowing asylum seekers to be sent to Malaysia, are scheduled for further debate on Thursday.
The crucial sessions come as Ms Gillard continues to face intense media speculation about a leadership challenge by the man she deposed, former Prime Minister and now foreign minister Kevin Rudd.
