Isra-Mart srl news:

Solar panels have a new rival in the shape of an innovative lens that intensifies the light reflected off the moon in order to generate electricity.

The brainchild of a French entrepreneur, the so-called lunar panels have been heralded as solving the perennial criticism of photovoltaics - namely that they do not produce energy at night.
Tests at Université des Avril undertaken during last month's 'supermoon' established that concentrated moonlight could potentially generate electricity for the grid.

"The trial proved my panels are more revolutionary than Bastille Day," said inventor Lapin DuPacques. "The moon is the source of great power, as well as romance, and now humanity can tap into that. This will change the lives of the poor citizens of Canada, Russia and Scandinavia, who have to cope with months of darkness by drinking litres of terrible wine."

He added that once the technology is fully developed, businesses would be able to top up on moon energy overnight and run on the stored power during the day - effectively becoming almost completely carbon neutral.

By the end of next year DuPaques expects to install a working prototype in the Pyrenees, where he insisted the panel would perform even better as it would be closer to the moon.

"As we develop the technology it will become cheaper, naturellement," said DuPacques. "And just imagine it - by 2020 an area the size of Wales could power more than one 40W light bulb."
