Isramart: Canada matches US carbon target

Canada has aligned itself with the United States setting a 2020 carbon emissions target of 17 per cent below 2005 levels.

The target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions under last month's Copenhagen Accord was submitted to the United Nations yesterday two days after the United States announced its objective.

Environment Minister Jim Prentice says the target's in keeping with Canada's commitment to align its strategy with the US.
