Isramart : Government pushes to join UNFCCC

Isramart news:
Taiwan is stepping up its campaign to join the conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

On Friday the Government Information Office organized a video conference bringing together officials and scholars from both Taiwan and Denmark.

During the meeting, Anne Grete Holmsgaard, member of the Danish parliament and opposition spokeswoman for climate and energy, said it is of great importance for Taiwan to participate in the UNFCCC.

Taiwan’s environment minister Stephen Shen said Taiwan has adopted strong measures to fight climate change. Shen also said Taiwan is vulnerable to climate change, and that the international community should take notice of the country’s wish to join the UNFCCC.

This year’s UNFCCC conference will open in December in Copenhagen.
