REpower has won a contract to supply seven wind turbines to the planned 14MW White Mill Wind Farm at Coldham in Cambridgeshire.
The company confirmed late last week that it had been awarded the contract by a joint venture between the Ventus Funds, managed by Climate Change Capital, and the Co-operative Group. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
The MM82 machines, each with a rated output of 2.05MW, are expected to generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of at least 8,000 homes a year.
Rick Eggleston, managing director of REpower UK, said that other MM82 wind turbines had already performed well in the same area.
"REpower has installed MM82 wind turbines at seven other wind farms in the area, and this model has proven to be ideally suited to the local wind conditions and terrain," he said.
Civil engineering work is due to commence this month, with installation at the site scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2012. The project is due for completion by the end of May next year.
Since its launch in 2004 REpower UK has delivered 35 onshore wind farms in Scotland, England and Wales and one offshore wind farm. It also supplies 30 wind turbines for Vattenfall's 150MW Ormonde wind farm in the Irish Sea.
